About the usual gap between updates. Work had me for awhile, then
school has had me. I made the new model on the models page for a
friend to assist her in a project. Its a portable fan that lights
up, pretty fun to play with. I didnt bother to model all the
internal parts. It took about 20 minutes to model, texture, and
render, go to stills and check it out.
12-15-03Its been 2 months since I have updated, wow. Check out my
new render on the stills page. Modeled in about 15 minutes, rendered
in about 15 more. So about 30 minutes of work, im pretty happy. I am
going to remodel some of the blade and fix it up a bit, but right
its currently up.
10-9-03
Wow! Its an update. I finally have found some time to
screw around in 3d, so check out my latest renders of a scene for a
possible short on the lovely screens page!
8-2-03
Hey, long time again. I have been real busy with my summer job and
summer school. I am happy to report that I now have a dv cam so i
will be able to try some fun chroma key stuff with some people back
at school. I havent been away from 3d stuff either. I have been
working on my modification that i plan to make for the upcoming Half
Life 2. Besides that, ive been working on this super mega robot
thing, just for fun, and this is what i have so far. Check it out on
the stills page.
6-27-03
Its really been amazing how long ive taken now to update my website.
I dont have the internet too often so it has been difficult to
maintain this page. You will find 2 new renders on the stills page
of some GI work i have been doing. Enjoy!
3-24-03
Wow, I have had this site for a year now, and I barely
fill the page with posts. On the 25th of last year, I wrote about
the Academy Awards. This years awards, the ChubbChubbs won for best
animated short, as it well deserved to. As for best animated
feature, it was some anime by the guy who did princess mononoke. I
do not particularly care for anime, and was hoping that Lilo and
Stitch would win. As for 3d stuff, I have not done much exciting
since mosquito man. School is getting rather annoying, so I have to
deal with it. Anywho, I have to go eat breakfast then attend
lecture.
2-11-03
Mosquito man is well on the way. I am almost ready to set up the
bones for animation, but I still have much cleaning up to do.
Anyway, check him out on the stills page.
2-08-03
I have been thinking of ideas for an animated short. and I figured
the best first step would be to create a character. I sort of have
an idea for the short, but I'm just working on the character. 3
renders can be found on the stills page..
1-21-02
I have created several morph target poses and have done a very short
100 frame AVI of some of the facial expressions, morphs at work. I
will most likely refine his morph targets, then create a real
expression test. This is more of a test of morph function. Grab the
avi right here.
1-20-02
Finally a big update for me. I have started exploring the world of
box modeling faces for the first time and I am pretty proud of what
I have come up with for my first attempt. The progress of how it was
made can be found by clicking right
here. I hope you
all enjoy!
1-13-02
Well, bad news. A few weeks ago my hard drive broke and
well, i lost everything. Almost everything you see on the stills
page, and animations was lost. I am still working on reinstalling
everything and hopefully i can get started on my new plans for
animation as soon as possible.
12-3-02
Finally, I update! With all the stress of finals I have not had time
to mess with 3d studio. But, I was distracted for a moment, and
since my cloth sim plugin wasnt working any longer, I half way
taught myself to use MAX 5's reactor. Its a very powerful dynamic
system. On the animation page you will find the animation. The
material was also a test, looks more velvet than it does silk. It
uses several falloff maps and an oren nayer blinn material. Go check
it out!
10-5-02
I think this is a first, I updated the site two times in
two days! But I am pretty proud of the animation that I just
completed, its the first thing I have made that I am proud of.
Anywho, go check it out on the animation page!!
10-4-02
After watching more monsters inc, and the special
features, I took it upon myself to learn morph targets for facial
animation. On the stills page is an image of a character I made in
about five minutes. I have a small animation, but the character is
not that good for the animation, so I plan to make a new one with
many morph targets. Anyways, check out the stills. So far my college
experience is going well.
9-13-02
Thanks to my friend Ted, I started playing around with
Nurbs some more to try to get some detail, and I ended up modeling
my glasses, go check it out on the stills page.
9-4-02
So far college is great, i made a model of my compass
keychain which is on the stills page! CHECK IT OUT!
8-23-02
ANOTHER MONTH! Well, its just easier that way. I have been
working about 40 hours a week at my job, saving money, and getting
ready to go off to college. I leave this week, so before i go, i
decided to update with a few other HDR renders, because they are
rather cool to look at. In the stills, as always.
7-21-02
Yeh, a huge empty month where I could not update my site.
I got Win XP and everything setup on it so its all good. I still am
learning a lot about nurbs and character modeling, so go check out
those renders and some more of caustic effects in the stills page.
Also, I used HDRI or high definition range imaging to produce some
realistic looking images.
6-30-02
I just recieved my second book about 3d studio. This one
focuses completely on character animation and environmental effects
and animation. The learning curve on this book is rather steep, but
it has tons and tons of information, about everything there is to
know about all the modifiers, the track view, and even the biped
plugin. Also, I am working on some caustics again, and hope to have
renders up soon.
6-25-02
I was lucky enough to stumble across a nice free plugin
that fakes Global Illumination. The concept is quite simple, but the
results are quite nice. Check out the new stills!
6-23-02
Well, I know this update doesnt seem groundbreaking, but
im very proud of what i have done. I did my first bones activity
using HI solvers and a few Constraints to create a nice simple walk
cycle. Its quite complicated, but none the less, im proud. Download
the AVI here.
6-16-02
I got a new alarm clock for college, and I found it very
nice to look at. I modeled and rendered it and you can see it on the
stills page. Also I put up a small sample of the glass scene
here. I
modeled the clock using mostly nurbs.
6-9-02
Hmm, so I have a brand new idea for my first animated
short. It will involve 2 glasses as the main characters. Stills from
the upcoming movie presentation can now be seen in my gallery. I
used raytrace materials with a lot of falloffs to achieve my effect.
5-19-02
Wow, almost 2 months without an update. My modification
for half-life died awhile ago, oh well. I just got the brazil
renderer and I must say it is so much fun to play with. You can see
some stuff I made on the stills page.
3-27-02
I enjoyed playing around with raytraced materials, and you
can see what new wonders I have created on the stills page.
3-25-02
After watching the Academy Awards, I must congratulate the
creator of the short animated film fifty percent grey for being
nominated. Although "For the Birds" took the oscar , and it was
funny as all get out, 50% grey was a wonderful piece of work with a
humorous ending. Congrats to dreamworks for Shrek, all though I
favored Monsters Inc.
3-22-02
I was playing around with raytraced spheres, and came up
with some cool results check it out in the stills. Also, an attempt
at toon shaders can be seen in the animation section.
3-16-02
I just uploaded my new droplet.avi. Check it out in the
animation section.
2-26-02
This site is obviously under works. Check out the about
page to find out about my work. Animations will be up shortly and I
will start putting my stills up. I am also going to put up a links
and tutorials section for those new to 3d studio or animation.
